Accessories & Smalls

The Accessories & Smalls are my original Counted Thread Embroidery designs worked on linen. Many of the designs call for overdyed thread, which gives the pieces an antique quality. Accessories & Smalls include needle cases, scissors cases, scissors fobs, pin cushions, lined baskets, Shaker sewing boxes and covered mache boxes. When working these designs from my notebook style publications you will learn to stitch a number of different stitches. The instructions also include details for each finishing technique. Select a design using a Shaker box and you will learn how to line the box and make pockets and other accessories to include with the box. Covering a paper mache box with linen and lining the interior is another fun finishing technique. When a design includes tassels, twisted cord or a braid trim, these instructions are usually provided with the publication. These lovely pieces are something you can stitch and enjoy for years to come and finally pass them on to future generations.

Title: Christmas Sewing Tins and Candy Cane Scissors
Models stitched on 36-ct. White Edinburgh, Zweigart
Thread Used: DMC 6-strand Embroidery Floss and The Gentle Art Sampler Threads

This set includes a Scissors Tin, Scissors Fob and Pin/Needle Tin. The tins used in this design are the large and small Altoid tins. The inspiration for this set was the Candy Cane Scissors from Uncommon Scissors. I wanted the design to not only reflect candy canes and holly, but other Christmas motifs. The two cardinals on the top of the Scissors Tin with pine boughs, holly sprays, peppermints and candy canes adds that holiday feeling. The Pin/Needle Tin lid has a tiny apple basket and holly design. Both boxes are lined on the bottom and on the inside lid. Look inside the Pin/Needle Tin and you will find a little cardinal sitting on a branch on the pin cushion top. There are also peppermints stitched on the inside of this tin. These are quick and fun to stitch. There are eight different charts in this design.

There are 22 specialty stitches used in this design which includes 6 different leaf stitches. You will also learn how to stitch a peppermint using the Wound Cross.

These designs would also work up as nice Christmas ornaments stitching them on 28-ct. or 32-ct. linen.
